Insect Control

4. Why use Ecomist automatic insect control rather than a normal fly spray?
The Ecomist automatic insect control dispenser is the 'Original and Premium' system. We have a  full warranty for our Domestic product and extended warranty and after sales care team in the commercial sector.
Ecomist provides Automatic Insect Control 24 hours a day. Because Ecomist uses Natural Pyrethrins it actually repels and kills bugs creating an insect free zone. Pyrethrins are biodegradable as they break down in sunlight so there is no build up of residue.

5. What types of insects does Ecomist control?
Ecomist is effective in controlling most insects including flies, ants, cockroaches, spiders, fleas, dust mites and mosquitoes and MORE!

6. What are Natural Pyrethrins?
Pyrethrin is derived from the flowers of Chrysanthemum Cinerarifolium and possesses a unique combination of insecticidal properties. It contains not one but at least six distinct related insecticidal ingredients called Pyrethrins. Insects affected by Pyrethrin will try to escape from the threatening area.

Odour Control

7. How does Odour Control work?
Odour molecules are negatively charged and the Ecomist odour neutralizer spray is positively charged. These molecules are attracted to each other and combine creating a particle that is too heavy to remain in the air, thus removing the unpleasant odour from the atmosphere. The fragrance molecules are not electrically charged and remain in circulation after the odour has gone.

8. Are Ecomist fragrances approved?
All Ecomist fragrances are approved by IFRA (International Fragrance Association) a European body that certifies that the ingredients are not harmful and contain no known carcinogens. There is no equivalent Australian body.

Technical

12. How do I open my Ecomist dispenser?
You can open your Ecomist by pressing on the bottom of the unit and pulling away the face from the backplate.

13. How to fit the can into dispenser?
Please, find the instruction here

14. How long does a can last?
Under ‘normal’ settings (a 30mg dose every 7 mins) a 250ml can would last about 4 weeks.

15. Where should I place my Ecomist dispenser?
  1. Install in a location where air currents will circulate the aerosol spray to areas where it is most required
  2. Mount dispenser about 2 meters above the floor preferably where there is a clear area between the dispenser and the floor
  3. Do not install near or next to an open window or extractor fan or aerosol spray will be lost
  4. Do not install your Ecomist directly over food, or food preparation areas. Ensure there is a 2 metre gap between the food bench and the dispenser
  5. Make sure that your Ecomist is installed in a well ventilated area and avoid small enclosed areas with no airflow
Caution: Do not install directly over appliances or furniture, e.g. refrigerators, items made of plastic or polished surfaces.

16. Should I use my dispenser during winter?
At the end of the summer season flying insects may not be so prolific. However, insects such as ants, fleas, silver fish and cockroaches can be year round pests. We recommend continued use of your Ecomist automatic insect control system throughout the year. Alternatively buildings can be fragranced using other Ecomist Automatic Odour Control System.

17. How often do I need to change the batteries?
The batteries will last up to a year in your dispenser. They should be replaced with alkaline batteries only.

18. If my Ecomist is not working, what should I do?
  1. Ensure the unit is turned on. The E4 and EcoPro and MAXI dispensers have on switches inside the dispenser
  2. Check the can is not empty and the batteries are not flat
  3. Check the dispenser for signs of leaking – both outside and inside. If there is a leak or dribble this will need to be fixed by an Ecomist technician in order to properly fix the delicate mechanisms inside the dispenser
  4. Test fire the Dispenser (refer to the specific Dispenser instructions for more detail)
If none of the above work, please phone 1800 243 500 or email info@ecomist.com.au. We have a full repair service and all of our dispensers are covered by a 1 year warranty or extended warranty in the commercial sector.
